Film Pittsburgh presents independent films from around the world, deepening audiences’ understanding of various cultures, expanding acceptance, and recognizing our common humanity. Our broad range of programming is designed to reach people of all races, religions, ages, and abilities, and emphasis is placed on collaboration with other organizations.

Each year, we proudly present the Three Rivers Film Festival, Pittsburgh Shorts and Script Competition, ReelAbilities Pittsburgh, and JFilm Festival, along with the Robinson International Short Film Competition, Teen Screen, and a Filmmaker Conference.

Immersive Fellowship Description

Film Pittsburgh seeks applicants for a summer 2024 Humanities Engage Immersive Fellowship. This small, dynamic team works closely together and often across projects and divisions; thus the Fellow will experience all aspects of Film Pittsburgh’s operations, including social media, publicity, marketing, programming, identifying new markets, and grant writing/project management among other tasks. This role will primarily be in person at Pittsburgh Film’s offices with the potential for some remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Marketing & Communications Manager to write, implement, and execute social media strategies for film festivals, programs, and events, as well as develop website updates
  • Community and institutional outreach and engagement
  • Event planning and programming
  • Research and marketing for the ReelAbilities Pittsburgh festival
  • Festival previewing and submission review
  • Assisting in grant writing/reporting and project management

Qualifications

  • An interest in independent film
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • An ability to work independently
  • Capable of working across operational divisions, depending on need
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) as well as Canva
  • Social content development/branding experience a plus
