Administrative Internships for Ph.D. Students

This program matches Ph.D. students with administrative units in the University to collaborate on short-term, mentored projects that will enhance the students’ professional development and support the mission of the host units. Doctoral students will gain crucial collaborative experiences that help prepare them for a variety of careers – from the tenure track and higher education administration to government, industry and business, and the social impact sector. Using their existing skills and developing new skills, interns will gain a deeper understanding of university administration and higher education leadership. 

Summer 2022

Drawing on his experience in event planning, public-facing film writing, and Asian and Asian American cinema, Jonah Jeng (Film and Media Studies) will plan, coordinate, and execute programming for the SCREENSHOT: Asia 2022 Film Festival.

 


Leonardo Solano MoragaLeonardo Solano Moraga (Hispanic Languages and Literatures) will use his research and communication skills to help Pitt’s Research Development team to redesign the content and resources it provides to support faculty navigating the funding landscape.

Mehul BhushanMehul Bhushan (Communication) brings community-centric research skills and familiarity with UX design to a collaboration with the Office of Community & Governmental Relations to convey the impact, orientation, and functionality of community engagement at Pitt.


Sritama ChatterjeeSritama Chatterjee (English) is collaborating with the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research to revise three significant new programs by drawing on her experience as a multi-disciplinary, multinational project assistant and curriculum developer.


Manuel GarzonManuel Garzon (Hispanic Languages and Literatures), with his extensive student mentoring experience, is developing video-based case studies for The Mentoring Academy and the Entering Research curriculum of the University Center for Teaching and Learning.


Luana Moreira ReisLuana Moreira Reis (Hispanic Languages and Literatures) is using her academic work and experience as an event organizer to amplify and showcase the value of Black lives and Black art for the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (OEDI)’s “Black Lives in Focus” (BLIF) campus-wide initiative.


Ben Naismith

Drawing on his professional experience in the field of language teaching and teacher training, Ben Naismith (Linguistics) is collaborating with the University Center for Teaching and Learning to evaluate and compare different text-analysis software and applications.


Emilee RuhlandEmilee Ruhland (English) brings her communication skills and her experience presenting academic content about the medieval world to public audiences to collaborate with the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research in amplifying communication about the Pitt Research enterprise.
